On AM5, 31.3 % of socket-compatible pairings in this database need a BIOS update before the board will post, and on 8.4 % of all AM5 pairings the board needing that update also has no USB BIOS Flashback — the case where you need a second processor just to get the first one running.

Method
A pairing needs an update when the processor's generation rank exceeds the highest rank the board's shipping firmware supports. The second column counts the harder case: an update is needed and the board cannot flash without a working processor installed, which means borrowing an older CPU or paying a shop.
